What to Wear Wednesday!
Let’s talk capelets.
You read that right – CAPELETS.
Now. I don’t own one, but I think the trend is suggesting a growing capelet population, and I think they are rather charming, in an armless-ish sort of way…
Which brings me to a question… what exactly IS a capelet?
It depends on Google, and what words the retail-ites decide to use to tag their product. No really. A short jacket with roomy sleeves, might also be tagged as “capelet”. A sleeveless piece without a front opening (say, a shrug or shawl) may be also be labeled a “capelet”.
Then there is the issue of length. At what point does a capelet become a cape?
I actually could care less. I am liking the trend toward capes these days too.
Regardless of the specifics… one thing is certain – there are some pretty fabulous “capelets” out there… regardless of sleeves, buttons or length…
I can see me wearing this while holding a microphone.Taking charge of a room. A hooded capelet on Etsy.
This would be a capelet with sleeves. Chic, yet not too chic-ee…
And the most charming capelet of them all…
Can we all just take a moment and give the above capelet it’s due praise. She is a piece of art. Linger… I can just feel her resting on my shoulders… can’t you?

My sister-in-law wore a fuzzy white capelet with her wedding dress for her snowy, New England December wedding a few years back! It was ADORABLE and CLASSY. Love it, love it, love it.
I need a capelet. Or a cape. Clearly.
Not everyone can pull off a cape. Or capelet.
I’ll leave the capes to the superheroes…
I’m so glad I found you!
You make me smile…:)
cute.
i think i will follow the trend….except for the man one. yuck.
Wouldn’t that second one be more like a bolero jacket? It seems way too structured to be a capelet.
Which, by the way, I read as carpet the first time. Heh.
Dearest Jenny…. I thought you would oh-so-want to know that I, yes, I own a lovely, chic, knitted, cranberry capelet. And I do love it; but you reminded me to pull it out. Tis’ the season indeed!
