Dump Cake, A Simple & DELICIOUS Take It On Tuesday Adventure

It’s TAKE IT ON TUESDAY, and I took on a simple recipe just for YOU!

Let’s make DUMP CAKE, friends!

My dump cake is delicious and easy and did I mention EASY? I reckon most dump cake recipes are easy, but I’ve only made this one. And Why reinvent the wheel, really? As a kid I wasn’t a fan of fruity desserts. Pumpkin pie was fine, but I avoided apple pie and cherry pie and that kind-of thing.

But my mom’s dump cake? This is a mix of pie and cake (recipe includes a box of cake mix). It’s cherries and pineapple which just give the sweetness of the cake mix a tart (but not too tart) explosion of sweet and tart in your mouth.

Serve with ice cream or a la cart.

Here’s the skinny.

The scoop.

THE DIRECTIONS:

1  large can of crushed pineapple

1   large can of apple or cherry pie filling

1   box lemon, white or yellow cake mix

1   stick-o-butter

Heat oven to 350º. Dump the pineapple & cherry filling. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over filling. Slice butter over cake mix (stick it in there a bit). Bake for 1 hour.

I use yellow cake mix. My taste buds feel the lemon cake mix make it too sweet. But I wanted to include that option because no two taste buds are alike, right?

This Dump Cake is best served warm. You can serve it over or next to a scoop of vanilla ice cream… or all my itself. It’s equally delightful either way! Though I am the kind-of person who must have ice cream with her crisps and crumbles, it is not the same foe me and my beloved Dump Cake. I suppose I’m a bit of a purist that way.

If only I had those ingredients on my SHELF I would be making that DUMP CAKE and enjoying it right now! I am going to add the ingredients to my list of necessities for what we affectionately call “shelf meals” (pasta and sauce, frito boats, miscellaneous dried or canned goods that are easy to prepare without having to run to the store).

  6. Thank you for making me smile, Jenny! I just LOVE your energy. I totally want to make this and when I go to the store, I’m getting the ingredients. OH YUMMO

90% or more recipes call for a knife or toihtpock test that comes out clean…the material of the pan will change the total time the aluminum pans seem to absorbe the heat faster..the dark teflon pans also which means the crust may cook faster..but the test is still required.AS to HOW ??It is a molecular level thing,,, like densitycast iron ,,heavy pottery,, glass,, then the steals,, and the aluminumWhat do I know???.Ps Glass is often presneted ON the table It has an elegant look to it
