Photo Bombed by Santa! Or… Santa at the Space Needle

We live in the greater Seattle area.

This means, we either have to take a bridge or a ferry in order to get to the fair Emerald City. Which means, we don’t get to the city a whole lot. At least not as a family.

But this time of year is our favorite “city” time of year… so when I found a coupon to visit Santa at the Space Needle I felt like it was my civic duty to go. For you. For my family… for the WORLD. Plus, none of my children have been up there, and that is just not acceptable.

Being the efficient family we are, we piggy-backed this trip with my husband’s office holiday party.

Lucy got us all in the holiday spirit on the ferry. She has a way of doing that to people…

What a ham!(The 9 year old took those pictures. Well done, Olivia!)

The husband’s office is a few blocks from the ferry, so we walked on over and got the party started!

Mindbloom party!

Well, Mindbloom is a quite the collection of people, so the party didn’t have to be started. Plus, they brought in a Zumba instructor and let’s just say security may or may not have come up to tell us to quiet down. Didn’t they know it was ZUMBA time?!

A jazz square, a grapevine to the left and a serving of wine later… it was time to hit the streets of Seattle and find Santa!

walking the streets of Seattle

(We walked right past Zeitgeist. They make the BEST double tall latte a taste bud will ever meet.)

Our happy 5 headed into the bus tunnel… to Westlake… to the monorail… which led us to…

beneath the Space Needle

Awwwww yeah. At first look, Lucy insisted she did not want to go. But being the caring, sensitive, compassionate parents that we are… we forced her.

And as always, we were right. She loved it.Checking out the city

Never mind that whole “pulling the hat over her eyes” thing. She’s a tad eccentric.

Though it was a cloudy day (SHOCKER), we were treated to a lovely view(s)…Seattle and Puget Sound

Seattle in the left picture, and the Puget Sound is on the right. The ferry cuts right through there to take us home.

So romantic.

the we

(Did you know he proposed to me on the Space Needle?)

And then you get to the ticket booth at the ferry and they tell you how much it costs to ride that sucker, and that romance? DEAD.

But what about Santa?

We got to see him AND his Workship!

Santa and his Workship

Olivia is more excited than she lets on.

No she’s not. But she sure is a good sport. My son thinks Santa is a creep: “Mom. He knows when you’re sleeping? He knows when you’re awake? THAT’S CREEPY.”

And maybe….. he’s right.

Photo Bomb with Santa
