Make We Laugh Monday – Music and Oreos

A friend of mine (*Hi Karen!!!*) sent me a link to a video on YouTube. She knows I have a deep and passionate love for Oreos… But there’s more….

What girl doesn’t swoon over a some really slick guitar playin’? Combine the two together, and that is a recipe for this young (shutup) mother of 3 to have a response that rivals the passionate reaction of pubescent Beatles or Jonas Brother fans!

*squeeeeeeeeee!!!!!*

The video she sent spoke to me on levels only music and Oreos could. I laughed. I cried. I felt whole again *sniff* because though I know there are others out there that share my passion for the Oreo… there are few of us who have been moved in such a way that we  CREATE… we express our love in art.

I don’t kid when it comes to the Oreo and my love. Kid. You. Not.

Stevie Ray Vaughn *does sign of the cross* and Lonnie Mack wrote and performed a song… about my Beloved Oreo cookie. And I want to share it with you. Not only did it make me laugh, but it made me cry… it made me feel hope… and made me feel inspired… Hithertheretofore, I must share it with you… today *holds back tears*…

I hide’em in a cabinet, I keep’em in a jar
For emergency’s you know I keep’em in the
Glove compartment of my car
And I can’t live without’em
They git’ me higher than I can get on booze
I got them oreo creme sandwich
Chocolate covered creme filled cookie blues

Brilliant. Almost makes me wonder if Stevie Ray is channeling himself through me…

*sigh*

And in the few days since seeing this video, I already have 2 stellar guitarists lined up… (helps that I’m married to one of them!). Because as you might imagine (if you saw THIS VIDEO), I am the type of gal doesn’t just hear a song about her beloved Oreo – she also feels the passion so deeply – she must also sing. If I am willing to take on Eartha Kitt… I am brave enough to take on Stevie Ray Vaughn and Lonnie Mack.

Love like this makes you brave.
