I too remember grandma Sue! Great post Jenny! The first thing i thought of was riding around in the back seat of her car…(blue, i think) It is great that you have those letters and pictures to fill in some of the pieces…;-)

I love this post. I wish people still wrote and talked like that. I wish our “hook-up’s” were called suitors and I wish I could still be called a lady and my husband a gentleman. AND I wish men still woo-ed their lady interests.

Recently we had a family reunion. My aunt made up little boxes for each family to take home from the weekend. Inside the box were old picture of my grandparents, a few of my grandmother’s recipes, an old coin from my grandfather’s coin collection and a couple of love notes from him to her. They are so sweet and innocent. I love the way they courted each other in those days. Aaahhhhh….maybe I’ll email my sweetheart….or better yet, I’ll send a text….D8 2 nite? C U L8R.

It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that Sue inspired such ardent admiration. She was an amazing, formidable woman and I have always felt blessed that her life brushed by mine.

My grandmother recently showed me some diary entries that her mom kept on her voyage from Germany to Ellis Island. So cool. But they were all in German!! I should really take lessons…
That is very cool that you have stuff like that. I think it’s so neat to get little glimpses of everyday life back in the “good ole days”.

That is so great that you have that letter, and those incredible photos of your Great-grandmother (who was beautiful). It captures a time that has gone by. You can almost see what they are thinking.
Sometimes pictures are better than words.
