Rock Of Ages: Original Broadway Cast Recording CD Giveaway

Rock of Ages album cover

That’s right. You can’t see me, but I am doing that rocker-devil-sign thing with my right hand. Ouch. I can’t thrash my head around like that anymore. I think I just gave myself whiplash. I also nearly crushed my toes as I attempted to do a pirouette without my pointe shoes:

Why did I feel inclined to pop onto my bare toes and perform a pirouette? Broadway rock, Baby! Broadway! I’ve been listening to the unique muscial stylings of Rock of Ages – the Broadway Soundtrack. It is available at Amazon now.

Some cool info: New Line Records just hammered the in-store release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of five-time Tony Award nominated “ROCK OF AGES.”  For those of you not in the know, Rock of Ages is the new Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis. Set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80′s. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.

What songs? These!

Don’t Stop Believin

I need to let you know… this is Broadway music. It is the arena-rock songs, but Broadway style. The same songs, beats… you would definitely recognize every song. However, the songs are different. Fun. But different.

A little something about me and Broadway… I am the kind of person who tends to fall in love with the music after I’ve seen the performance. I enjoy the music on this cd, but it’d be great to see this on stage. There’s just something about making that connection with the music and the performers.

I recommend this cd to those who have a bent for Broadway-style music… who are not rigid in an expectation that old songs are performed in their original way. Not that this cd is limited to those. However, since I have listened to it, I want you to know what my impression was. It was definitely a little different that I expected. However, my family is growing into a bit of a theater family, and it’s fun to belt out these rock songs in a more dramatic and heart-felt way. You didn’t know arena rock could be more dramatic? Did you? Oh, it is on Broadway!

This would be an epic addition to my collection of Broadway musicals and 80′s music. I check out the soundtrack section of CD’s at the library, if that tells you what kind of music nerd I am.

  5. With the inclusion of “Sister Christian” and “Here I Go Again,” I realize I must see this show, Constantine or no Constantine. Actually, I heard he was pretty good. I think I’d love the show more than the CD, but I think I’d find a warm and caring home for the CD, too. So consider me entered. Off to Tweeeeeeeeeeeeet.
