Kid notes.
The things that drive me the most crazy about my son, are also the things that endear my heart to him everyday. He is intense and passionate, which sound good, unless things don’t work out the way he’d hoped. He is a planner. He is an “attention to detail” kind-of guy. He has been known to lay out his school clothes the night before, on his own. The other night he chose to do his homework during a family movie time. We had had a crazy number of days, and I was gonna tell his teacher that we just needed to deflate and he would finish his homework the next night. Joel couldn’t handle it. After a few minutes, he grabbed his bag and worked on his homework. For him, there is an order, and he functions best when that order stays intact.
2 nights ago I told him to leave his sign-off sheet on the counter for me to sign later (my hands were covered in cookie dough). Later that evening I found his school bag open, his folder open on top — the sign-off sheet and a pen ready, and this note:
I love my boy.

In other news, apparently I rock! Olivia told me so…
Of course, my son was disgusted. He said, “EEEEEWWWWW! Number 1 is PEE!!!”

Notes…I have recycled so many notes from my kids, I have probably saved a forest!
OK, seriously, can we swap sons for a week, cuz mine is the EXACT opposite of yours and about to drive me freakin’ nuts with all his make-up work and study habits (or lack there of)!! Mine came to me the other day and said, “Mom, I don’t think my agenda planner is for me. I think I’m gonna just start using sticky notes!” Uh, yeah, not so much. I need a serious break from 7th grade right now; thank goodness school lets out at the end of the week!!

Oh how I love this. I find I’m the same way about my son. The things that drive me crazy, also endear me. And he’s a stickler too. You are lucky that you got a note. Mine just nags me to death.
My son is the same way! I love it about him. Reminds me of my own OCD….

My oldest is all particular about his stuff is done, which sucks since his mother, well, isn’t. He gets frustrated with me often.

When I resumed putting notes in The Cruise Director’s lunches this year he told me to quit b/c he was being made fun of at school. I was so sad to see the tradition go by the wayside. Maybe I should make him write ME notes like your kids, so I won’t miss it. BG
