It's Broken!!!

Our ground! Finally, the construction of our new home is beginning! We broke ground on October 5, 2005. We bought the land in late February. It has taken longer than I thought, but we are finally able to physically see progress. I’m licking my chops in anticipation! Now we get to keep waiting…
The hole is sitting there, waiting for the construction of the foundation to be begin. We were hoping that part would start this coming Monday (the 17th), but that is not certain. I am learning that in the construction industry that something is certain only after the task has been completed. Though I am growing impatient, I can wait. It’ll be as long as a pregnancy by the time it’s done, so we’ll waddle through the process all the way!
We had an extended meeting with our builder today as well. We added windows and doors, eliminated pocket doors and added a shower. We made sure the fireplace would surround a wood-burning insert, and added a mini-door to serve as a “short-cut” for my groceries to go conveniently from the mudroom to the pantry. We’re going to have a pantry!!! Right now my pantry is also my laundry closet, cleaning closet, linen closet and luggage closet ? and 2 pillows?
All our changes were written in pen and highlighted. Our builder will take those plans and laminate them – sealing in our choices – till death or we pay. If we decide to change anything structural, we get to pay $350 for each change. I thought twice before I walked out the door from that meeting.
