My Daddy, His Accordion, Me, and My Sick Voice Make Music Together

And when I write “sick” I mean ill-sick, not awesome-sick. For the record.

My family and I went to my parent’s house last Christmas. I BEGGED my dad to let me video his awesome accordion playing skills. It took some convincing, but… I won *daddy’s girl!* You wouldn’t know by knowing me, but I am rather shy. So is my dad. We are both Nervous Nellies. So. This video is a big deal. And after spending time putting it together, my face hurts from smiling.

But… my voice… I am no Bette Midler, but I am no dying sea creature either when it comes to being able to sing. So… as much as some of the notes I hit may make you cringe… I cringed also. Besides, the video is more about my dad than me… and it will take less than 2 seconds for you to fall in love with him *pinkie swear*.

Without further ado, I give you my dad’s and my rendition of the Polka classic, Just Because You Think You’re So Pretty.

Oh Jenny – you… you!! Too much!! And I love your dad!! Now I know where your awesome comes from – obviously it’s a family trait.

Although that ISN’T out of tune, you should link to my site today anyway. It’s ‘Out of Tune Tuesday’ where ALL singing videos should link together!!

He is so sweet! I wonder if your kids will one day watch this video and hanker to play the accordian?

Yes! You & your daddy-o make me smile! Side note: I am also impressed with your video editing skillz. Fairly newb blogger here.

Anyway, forevermore if someone dares to say accordion playing is less than awesome, I will loudly say “NUH-UH” and direct them here.

    JOTS,
These are what you will treasure when your Dad is no longer around. It’s great that you are taking/making the effort to capture the memories on video… Keep it up, be brave, have fun!

My face hurts from smiling through that whole video now! Thanks for sharing your candid moments with us.
My dad plays the piano- and I totally understand the fond memories you have, and the need to share it! One-eyed one horned flying purple people eater and it’s a fine time to leave me Lucille will forever be burned into my mind and heart.
Tell your Dad to keep on playing!

  9. OK, so MAYbe you missed a high note here and there, but otherwise, you sound AWESOME! I love your dad! What fun you two had. Makes me miss my ol’ paw. Sniff. I’m sorry you were sick on Christmas. (And whatever happened with that screaming baby doll?)
