The Butt Series – A Christmas Snack
Oh dear. That title sounds very wrong. Ah. It’s late. No it isn’t. It FEELS late. Also most of my brain cell has been exhausted due to this, that, and a whole lotta whatnot. A day. It’s been a day.
So, instead of cleaning up my title so as to keep ya’llseses minds outta the gutter, I’m gonna leave that up to you. Instead, I want to ask:
If I eat ALL this Christmas snack, will it make my butt look big?
Don’t feel like you have to answer that. In fact, it is a rhetorical question, so… hush. Except still leave a comment. Bloggers do it for the comments.
Oh hey. Do you want the recipe to this delightful treat? Since you asked:
1 sleeve of Saltines (yes, this is the highest requested Christmas snack in Beverly Hills…)
1 c. butter (Already, you’re drooling… the word “butter” makes me salivate too. I am just like Pavlov’s dog, but bells don’t make me drool, the word “butter” does. But I digress.)
3/4 c. brown sugar (I use dark, but I’m kinda crazy like that… Some friends use white sugar, but the most of us favor the brown sugar…)
12 oz./2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (You may use milk chocolate, but… why? You may use dark, but they don’t melt and spread quite as easily.)
3/4 c. chopped love (i.e. nuts, candy canes… I use candy canes *swoon*)
Preheat oven to 450* (I can’t type that degree thing). Line a 10×15 inch cookie pan with foil. Spray the foil with cooking spray. Lay out saltines. Boil sugar and butter for 3 minutes. Pour mixture over crackers and spread as evenly as your temper will permit. Bake at 400 for 5 minutes.
Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Allow to set for a minute and spread melted chips with spatula. Sprinkle the chopped love of your choice and pat it down a touch… lightly. Cut diagonally immediately or allow to cool and break into pieces.
I have tried both cutting and breaking and both methods cause me to feel much frustration. Just work through it. It is well worth the frustration. Also, be sure to get all that foil off. Just a word of advice. In the end you have a sweet and salty treat that is actually titled: Saltine Chocolate Pieces. Fancy. That’s me. Always bringing you the finer things in life…
And now that Christmas is over… let’s just view this post as me being REALLY on top of helping you be prepared for next Christmas. M’kay?

2 whole cups of semi sweet chocolate chips? That is my kind of recipe!
That sounds really good, I’ll have to try it sometime. I love the salty/sweet combination!
Oh, and my butt is bigger than yours, so no, it won’t make your butt look big!
OMG…Jenny, I’m gonna have to come up North there and physically stop you from sharing any more amazing yummy and EXTREMELY hi-cal recipes!
Salty-sweet…that’s my achilles’ heel. And this recipe just looks way too manageable.
Curses.
my butt just got bigger reading that
I’m pretty sure that Christmas snacks eaten after Christmas have lost their effect….so munch away….your butt will be fine
Sounds delish! Speaking of yummy candy canes, I threw one in my hot cocoa the other day (because SOMEONE ate all the large marshamallows) and it was really tasty!! I’ll have to stock up next xmas…
Ignoring the recipe. You know why. About your butt looking big? Just stand next to me. It’s all about perspective, baby.
My butt got bigger just reading the recipe. I’m going to have to turn sideways to get out the door!
I believe that Christmas snack makes your butt look TINY. If you eat the whole thing, well, then….
That will absolutely NOT make your butt look big. Go for it!
Good thing I’m sick and in my stupor, I will probably forget that I ever read this post by the time my appetite comes back.
I think it’s definitely worth the risk! Salty and sweet, YUM!
As much as your recipe sounds wonderful, just looking at the picture made my ass bigger. I shudder to think what will happen if I actually consumed any…
This is actually now my favorite Jenny “dish”, other than Jenny herself! It is so good I couldn’t quit eating it. I’m just warning you. The good thing is that you can eat A LOT of it and not get sick. It’s like MAGIC!! Yep, magic….
Just put down the Christmas goodness and step away!! LOL This post cracks me up… you’ll never guess what I made mid-week? Yes, another Christmas treat, LONG after Christmas. Vanilla bark covered pretzels. YUM. I had to make them… I had one package of bark left over from the holiday baking. I COULDN’T let it go bad, that would just be WRONG. I swear I didn’t eat it all, though. ha ha
