Foodie Friday: Cutting Crusts Off Sandwiches
I am fairly certain this might be the vlog that goes viral.
I mean, really.
Riveting. No?
Well. For primary grade schoolers, that is. If only primary school children ruled the YouTube…
Are you crust cutter? Why or why not?

OK, Ima gonna have to get all European on you here for a moment… or more precisely GERMAN, because no-one in the whole world knows how to make bread like the Germans do! Yo!
Anywho. About those “crusts” – clearly, you have never seen a real bread crust. Cause what you call “crust” on that squishy low-substance bread is NOT a crust. ‘sNOT! THIS is a crust: http://tinyurl.com/35cooxz
So, if anyone complains about or is afraid of the “crust” on American sandwiches – psha! You aint seen nuthin! Or tasted, for that matter. And I tell you something: the crust is one of my favorite parts of good German bread!!!
I’m just sayin’.
(Hope you’re still my friend, even if I’m a bread (crust) snob… *sheepish grin*)
I always heard that the crust had the most nutrition in it (!? which sounds like total bunk) so I make my kids eat it. (I am SUCH A BORE! no wonder I need your blog!!)
no, I’m not. That part of the bread makes your hair curly.
Ahh, crusts. I probably should cut my crusts off too for my kids. But i don’t. My kids just eat around it. lol.
But I’m gonna keep my eyes open for cookie cutter. That is SWEET!
And I love your foodie fridays. They are right up my alley!
I hope this video goes viral…;) That’d be COOL.
Same boat here – Maddie will eat more of the sandwich if I cut the crusts off.
*eye roll*
I have avoided this until recently, not because I’m lazy or anything, but hey -
I ate MY crusts for years ’cause my mom told me they would give me curly hair.
(Note to Mom: totally bogus, thanks so mauch.)
Shouldn’t she have to eat her crust too? I mean, isn’t that one of the mom rights earned?
(Actually, we have a dinosaur sandwich crust cutter. I confess).
I love your point that they will eat more of the sandwich if the crusts are cut off. And you cut them off so cleanly! I’m going to try it today with my 2 girls and see how they do in eating more sandwich!
You are hilarious! Love you!
HOW ARE YOU NOT ON FOOD NETWORK?!?
This so funny and very timely.
I finally gave in and started cutting crusts off for my 4 yr old girl for that exact reason. But then I had to justify it to my Hubby – She eats more of her food!
I also have a glass bowl that is the exact right size to make a lovely circle sandwich.
So, my question is this – what to do with those yummy crusts? sometimes (if its toast) I dip them in peanut butter and eat anyway.
This video was my first peek at you, Miss Jenny. You are funny! I did my own eye roll at first–who needs a video to figure out how to cut off crusts? But it was very entertaining.
I am not a crust cutter, even though my kids wish I would be. I make them eat their crusts and bribe them with things like grapes, Goldfish, or maybe even a cookie. Now they eat their crusts without the bribe. Muahaha.
that was a great addition to my blah Friday LOL
so funny! have a fab weekend
can’t do it… or rather won’t do it! cutting the crust off the sandwiches is right up there with peeling the skin off an apple, or peeling a grape.
I love you. I luuuurrrvvveee you. I wuv you. You make me smile and giggle and all that good stuff. And my kids will ONLY eat sandwiches cut into cookie cutter shapes – crusts aren’t even an option. I feel ya.
I used to cut off the crusts because it is true- they eat more that way! But now I rash if I touch bread, so I quickly spread, throw into container, and wash my hands. I figure I’m kindof like Mother of the Year and what not, cause I make my kids’ sandwiches even though they make me rash.
Guilt kindof works too.
Tis me. Throwing accolades and iloveyous in your general sparkly direction.
Dude….that bit about the thin layer of PB to keep the jelly from turning your sandwich to pudding!?!?!?! That bit right there is the makings of treasure! I will no more ….NO MORE I SAY!… put the jelly directly on said bread.
Lives have been changed. God bless you.
And you are friggin hilarious as usual. I agree.. Food Network needs you.
I like this one. Mostly because you give us not ONE, but TWO very accurate options for crust-cutting. Thank you!
I’d like to say I don’t cut the crusts off of sandwiches, the peels off of apples, or the skins off of potatoes because I’m just lazy. But the truth is, I just can’t get my brain around the ‘logic’ of it all. I actually just blogged about this myself a coupla days ago:

Is this really a thing for kids? My kids have always eaten the crusts…always.
