Today, I am in heaven. Most likely. At this writing, I am at home, and not in Houston/Heaven (see graphic to the left, Mom 2.0 BABY!!!). But I wanted to have something fresh for you on Friday, and I know me well enough to know that with a day of traveling on Thursday, the only way I’d get anything up (shutup) would be to schedule a post for Friday – today *cheesy grin*.

I am sure you are worried. You are probably thinking, “Is she safe? Is she having fun? Does she have enough blankets? Does she have a toothbrush? Are they providing her enough coffee? Is she happy? Did she bring enough glitter spray? Is there an open bar(s)?”

You are so sweet for asking. Thank you for your concern.

Regrettably, I cannot answer those questions. I am not “in” Friday… yet. So, in my best effort to comfort you in your time of worry… let me introduce you to my rommies at the Mom 2.0 Summit. I think if you know who I am keeping company with… sleeping with, fighting over shower privileges and power outlets with… and — word on the street is… jumping into pools with our pretty clothes on… then you will find comfort. I don’t want you to worry about me. I love you too much to let you worry.

Here follows the list of ladies who will have to deal with my glitter… and I thank them in advance for their gracious-tude. And I apologize if by Sunday morning, my suitcase explodes like it did at BlogHer in Chicago last summer:

In my defense. Ermmm… Heh. Uh, if I told you, I’d have to kill you. So. Suffice it to say the aforementioned explosion was AFTER the night of the CheeseburgHer party.

Ruh-roh… I just looked at the Mom 2.0 sched. Looks like CheeseburgHer is gonna be at Mom 2.0 also. Who posted this picture anyway? Never fear, roomies. I am a changed woman. Well, I change my clothes a lot. I am a bit ADHD, so…  Aaanywho, just… if you see “somebody” put a McDonald’s bag on my head… swiftly confiscate it. No matter how “cute” a bag hat is – at the time… *ahem*

I Am A Lucky Girl – Mom 2.0 and My Roomies is a post from: Jenny On the Spot * This is what I do...

My friend, Jen… the woman who has only missed 4 of my 37 years of existence — lost her dad to his battle with ALS 2 weeks ago… Ugh.

The whole experience drove home the blessing I have in this life-long friendship…

Jen and I discovered Disneyland together…

We pretended to be ballerinas on the soccer field together…

She gave me her hairbrush cleaning job at the local hair salon my 8th grade year when she had to move to Fresno, and she came to my 8th grade graduation… And we braved the large framed glasses together too….

We were roommates in college. 2 years of… oh there is just too much… This is her in our dorm room our first year… She went with a navy/white theme – I was all pastel-crappy. $100 for Who will be the first person to spy the Caboodle? 1992, yo!

There were weddings and babies. During this span there were 10 years we never saw each other… but anytime we got to talk on the phone it was like no time had passed at all…

Finally, we were physically reunited. We braved BlogHer ’08 together… And for the first time we drank together. She introduced me to Caroline (on the left in the pic below *Hi girl – miss you!*) as “Drunk”… Jen has always been the quick witted one!

So, with the blessing of my little family at home, I stole away in my minivan and drove 800 miles to be with the friend who is more like a sister.

I would never survive solitary confinement. Never.

*sigh*

I’m not sure if I’ll write about our visit or not. There is just something about the time I was able to spend with Jen and her family… It was like going home. My parents were there too. Our families grew up together… and I’m not so sure I could ever express the depth of sadness and also the joy that was shared over the 2 short days I was there. Besides, I think I may just feel like holding that close. That’s a weird thing for a girl like me I suppose even I have limits.

I love you Jen. Deeply.

Why don’t we put great big “air quotes” around that “online break” part. I think “Chris Farley” demonstrates it best:

Aren’t you curious what I did with all my extra time? Well, I spent a lot of time on my pot business. I still didn’t get email squared away. You may have noticed new posts here, but those were scheduled… I got a lot of laundry done last Monday. Monday only. I made banana snickerdoodles and the ice cream part of ice cream smores.

I must confess. I DID get on the Twitter a few times. Whrrrl… I will explain shortly. And on Tuesday I went on the Facebook and changed my settings so I wouldn’t get any FB emails. Blah, blibiddy, blah, blah, blah…

I think I am going to tell you about some things I learned in my “offlinez” time:

I learned the phrase “The dog ate my homework” could actually be a viable explanation. Kevin, our 15 week old puppy proved it.

I went to the Seattle Social Media Club August Meetup with my friend Lisa on Tuesday and this was the view from my rooftop seat:

You can read more about that fun evening in this Whrrl Story… This was a big reason why it was hard to stay offline this week. I mean really, how can a girl go to a SOCIAL MEDIA CLUB event and not go all “social media”? I mean, SRSLY.

And it was this evening that I learned when one wears baby oil on her legs, the baby oil does not only exist on her legs. It’s like glitter. It gets on everything, even the lens of her iPhone. WHICH, is not so bad if you are going for a “soft lens” look in a romantic shot… but maybe not-so-much the thing one is going for in a “we are such great Buddy Buddersons” shot. This turned out to be more of a “I love you, dahling” Kodak moment. And while I do love Lisa dearly… in the words of Meat Loaf, “…but I don’t love you like that…”

Oh. Snap.

I laughed at Costco one day. Here’s a picture… and if you can’t figure out why, then… just move on.

I learned that though one WANTS to take on recipes, sometimes it just doesn’t pan out. I did make the banana snickerdoodle recipe (yum)… and I was able to make the ice cream of the smore ice cream recipe (yum)… The good news is I have some awesome marshmallow ice cream in my freezer wating to be scooped onto graham crackers and dipped into chocolate… and then eaten *nomnomnom*…

The BIG event of the week was our little weekend away. My mother-in-law took the kids and the dog while Paul and I went to his 20 year high school reunion. I was so busy talking, I got nearly no pictures. However, here is one I got of Paul and I before we took on the Class of ’89:

I know. It’s blurry, but you can kind-of see how cute I my husband looked.

Ya know. I also took very few pics for all the dancing I did. There was a lot of room on the dance floor. Prolly cuz I was so intimidating…

Or because of me and my new friend Annmarie – a Zumba instructor (the gal on the left). Did you read that JD?!!! I boogied with a ZUMBA instructor!!! *chachacha*

On Saturday night I got a tattoo:

I learned that when one attends the SMC Seattle meeting on Tuesday night, and connects with Twitter friends (@RealTweeter of Real Networks) and such… one might score permission to crash the Gnomedex after party on the following Saturday night.

And so I did. Paul and I spent a few hours at the Real Networks Gnomedex after party, where I got to meet a new love of my life – Jen Zug of This Pile. She is a gloriously delightful woman… and the fact that we have a dear friend in common (Julie Leung) is assurance that I know this woman is made of great stuff. Allow me to chase a tangent for a moment: Julie is the woman who started me in this whole “blogging” journey. Soley her. I take blame for my insanity, but she is to blame for the fact that you are all now subject to it

After the after party *blinking* we headed to a second reunion get-together. Can I just say as the spouse of a reunion-ee… I had a BLAST. And between all the talking to people at the Real Networks party and talking to all the classmates at the bar for the reunion… I think I used all my allotted words for the next 12-15 months.

Speaking of too many words, I need to cut myself off. I missed being here, but it was good to walk the empty halls of “real life” a little more. If you were hoping I’d come back with advice or a grand revelation about balance… I got nothin’. But I did do lots of laundry last Monday.

Oh dear. This is a long one…. Practically a thesis. Maybe I should change the title to BlogHer 09 Thesis and Whatnot of all Silliness and Ramblings of Great Proportion. Or not.

I was gonna do a “BlogHer – The Friday” post. Meh. Who wants a day-by-day run down? I just want to show you how fabulous life becomes when online babes friends get to meet each other IRL (in. real. life.) At BlogHer, not only did I get to meet people I have grown to admire, adore and, yes… even LOVE. I also MET people at BlogHer who I now admire, adore, and even… LOVE.

I fell fast and hard for some of these people…

In no order of importance, but probably in order of how this pics loaded from my iPhone into iPhoto, or however they landed on my desktop as I stalked the BlogHer pics on the Flickr…

Chris, Kim (3 Giraffes) and Sizzle Says… gettin’ texty with it whilst we wait for our ride to the Sheraton in Downtown Chicago.

My Jenny (3 Kid Circus). Have read her from my first days… plus our names are at the same level of Awesome, and we both celebrate the same new age in the SAME MONTH, and also she has 3 kids. Like identical twins of life… practically exactly the same. We both even have green teeth. Scary *shivers*. We do have one thing not in common tho, I am a stalker and she is cool. Oh. Dawn (Because I Said So). Luv Hur. So. Mauch. Look at that smile of hers! Pure gold, this woman. My biggest regret of BlogHer ’09…. not riding The Wienermobile with her. I was sitting against a random wall, charging my laptop and she came by and said she was going to go ride the Wienermobile and I was all, I’m gonna go nap.

Whu? Just call me Lamey Lamerson! I napped for maybe 10 minutes. Meanwhile Dawn got to ride the Wienermobile and made all kinds of what I bet were FABULOUS inappropriate jokes memories.

Oh, OH! Also, I landed an open seat where Dawn was lunching on Saturday and got to hang with MaNiC MoMMy too! No pic to prove it, but only the joy in my heart for my new adorable friend Stephanie! Mwah to you two lovelies!

Kelby stinkin’ Carr. The genius behind Type-A Mom and contributor at countless other sites. I’m sorry I caught ya with your eyes closed, my sister. Musta been all the glitter in the air.

I finally got to lay my eyes on and hug Musing Woman of Blogtations and Three Words Blog. I got a pic too, but… sometime pics just don’t work out… Just for me to giggle over, I suppose This woman has been such an encouragement to me. I am amazed how much value someone you have never met, and have somewhat staggered contact with… how significant they can grow to be. This woman has such a tenderness… a genuine compassion… and despite the trials of life — that light she possesses burns full and lovely. She had to leave the conference early, but even those few moments together were so full for me! {{{cyberhug}}}

Lotus (Sarcastic Mom). I saw her that first night, Thursday night, and drooled on her a bit (I hope my drool stain came out of your top…), but didn’t have the nerve to ask her to take a pic with me. A day later, I cornered her, and she had no choice. I’m kidding. Not about the “no choice” part, just the cowering. She didn’t cower, she’s brave like that. Sarcastic Mom was as lovely and delightful as my mind built her up to be

Sweet, sweet Christy Nelson. Creative genius and owner of a smile ya just can’t smile back at! Each time I bumped into her in the great halls of BlogHer, I couldn’t help but smile. There are people who just bring that… and Christy brings it. See??? No. You can’t see, but I have an ear-to-ear grin just typing this!

I met the lovely Erin Sclosser (Schlosser Design). She was hanging with Christy at the mommy Needs a Cocktail Party. You should visit her site… oh the loveliness! Talent with a capital T!

Yay! New friends! Liz (HP and Baby Blooze) and John Kim (Whrrl) at the Type-A Momfluence cocktail party…. Oh, the coffee martinis were TO DIE FOR. I downed 2. Or 3. I think just 2, but I wanted 5. I digress. I am learning to Whrrl… so I can tell more stories more often! I met John’s fabulous colleagues Erin & Joni too, and I hope to take them up on their offer to help me become a master Whrrlr and maybe kick it in their office sometime Yay Seattle! (BTW, how do I embed a story on my site?)

The Weird Girl. It was an instant connection at BlogHer last year. At these events it can be all too easy to forget the many people one has met. Not the Weird Girl. It’s a heart thing. I knew she was headed there this year and was tickled to give her a big squeeze… and shake it together on the dancefloor at the MamaPop party… Gonna shake it with me at Viking Fest next year, girlfriend?

I was going for a creative mirror/self-portrait shot and this fella hopped in the frame. A bachelor party crashed the CheeseburgHer party. I told the bachelors party fellers my name was Heather. *giggle* *gigglegiggle* If YOUR name is Heather, know I did this because I think the name “Heather” is the name of hotness (i.e. Heather Locklear) and a fake name is about as close as this mama is gonna get Glitter helps. And beer goggles. Cheeseburgers??? Aaaaanywho…

Met this darlin’ at the CheeseburgHer party. She was so sweet to pose with me. This is The Cheeky Lotus. Her name is not Heather. It’s Lena. But her name could TOTALLY be “Heather” *wink*… Maybe I’ll change my fake name from “Heather” to “Lena”. *thinkingthinking*

Kathy and I waited nervously in the audience with our video cameras for JD to Do Her Thing at the Community Keynote. Kathy is one of those gals who has yo back. And oh, how you made me giggle!

Of course there was BlogHer Prom. Well, I guess just Kim and I went to that…

ShortPumpPreppy (how on earth did WE not strike a pose toogethah?!) and @twincident (but they did get a picture of my legs for a leg contest… I wish I had submitted this pic – heh…) Mamikaze, Mrs. Flinger, The Bloggess (who I kind-of chased down and tackled just to say “hi”, then felt suddenly shy… *huh?* guess I wasn’t wearing enough of my confidence prop – glitter), Barefoot Foodie (pretty sure she thot I was a loonie-house escapee. No. I’m sure she thot that. I gave her every reason to think that. I think. But she was so sweet and indulged my mania. That night was really blurry. Something having to do with CheeburgHers and bag hats and 12 hours of sleep over 3 days… and whathaveyou. Also, in my defense… I have 3 kids. It’s amazing I can form words or even dress myself for all the brain cells they have destryed… I digress…), And So She Blogs (Really???? N0 pic of We?!)… Classy Chaos! I did get a picture, but it was so dark and blurry… *pout* Inherent Passion… we have red streaks in our hair… you are irresistibly adorable! And TallTara with lijit… gurl, you know you have won a special place in my heart *beatbeat*

Oh. There’s more, and I am exhausted. Come here… lil closer… I have a confession: I still haven’t sorted through my business cards.

Go ahead. Slap my hand. Bad Jenny. There are SOOO many more folks to link and spout lovely words or confessions about. But I may save that for later. This is what I hate about recap posts… the forgetting… And swag? Who needs swag when one’s life is full of great people like these?!

I Went to BlogHer and… Shazam! I Luvz Me My Onlinez Peeps! is a post from: Jenny On the Spot * This is what I do...

Can I just say, “Fun!”

I want to be up-front… I was given an opportunity to take all five members of my family to the Seattle Storm vs. Detroit Shock WNBA game on July 15th. We were treated to complimentary tickets,  food, and even passes for autographs by a couple of the players - Sue Bird and Ashley Walker!

When the opportunity to go came up I thought, “Well, we’re not necessarily a basketball family, but hey – it’s a night out!”

This is my daughter and me… just hanging out together… somewhere in Key Arena.

We knew we’d have fun, but we had no idea how MUCH fun. My kids were so excited to be going to the city…

This picture was taken after the game. They had their tickets autographed!

May I just list out the top ten reasons we had a total blast as a family at the game?

• ThunderStix! Whoa. If I could find my camera *grrr* I could show you a picture of the fun my kids had with their ThunderStix. I managed to grab a few pics on my camera phone (the few you see here), but the pics I REALLY want are AWOL… on that lost camera. *double grrrr*
• Game food… sody pop. ‘Nuff said.
• The Seattle Storm Dance Troupe! Made out of kids and awesome! KIDS! I even took video! ButIcantfindthecamera… *grrrr* During a number of time-outs and a quarter break this dance troupe of kids came out and hip-hopped their little hearts out! May I be perfectly honest? This was MY favorite part. I was jealous I wasn’t part of the troupe!
• Contests, trivia, parachuting t-shirts, slingshots with t-shirts… bright lights, fun music, cheering…
• At one point, they started a congo line and called out all the kids. About a BILLION *or less* kids went out onto the court and congo-ed around the court! My son got out there and BEAMED. It was a highlight for him…. to be out on the court having fun with a BILLION other kids. I was confused at first… a BILLION kids streaming down the arena stairs onto the court. Where the pros played. But then I was all, “Cool, go-kids-go!!!” Those kids out there were having a BLAST!
• Autographs! Score!
• A nail-biting 4 quarter. I found myself breaking out a few of those bench cheers back from my cheerleading days. I stood up the last several minutes with most of the fans as we prayed the Storm would keep their small lead…
• But they didn’t. *grips chest*
• There is NOTHING like a close game.
• Those ladies don’t play like girls…
• And it was an AWESOME time. The Seattle Storm played an excellent game…
• But the refs need to go back to ref school.
• “Don’t quit your day job, RRRRRREFFFFF!”

I digress. I forgot how easily I get sucked into the drama and excitement and that “something” that happens when a group comes together to support a team.

My kids crack me up. My kids also make me cry. I am in a constant state of overwhelm when it comes to my offspring… the greatest of joys and the deepest of frustrations.

Our outing to a local corn maze on Saturday was an extended time of joy for me as a mom. I watched my kids work together to make it through the corn maze. We laughed. We wandered, and the only sense of urgency was toward the end when the girls needed to pee. But we made it. Praise! Be! *raises hand to Heaven*. A pee accident would have totally ruined everything.

See? Joy to desperation in one flex of an not-completely-trained 3-year-old bladder… I am thrilled there was no accident. I can’t even express how truly, deeply happy that makes me. If you had asked me 20 years ago, “Jenny, what do you think would be one of the highlights of your 30′s?” I NEVER would have guessed that having an accident-free outing with my family would be at the top of the list. Never. Neh. Vah. People – it COMPLETELY eclipses things like world travel and world domination. Just pee-pee on the potty for the youngest. That’s me life goal.

Local folks – looking for a fun outing for your family? Head on over to Sunrise Hill Farm in Kingston. Of course, there is a FANTASTIC corn maze, but, BUT… there is also a tricycle area for the little ones, a mini hay-bale maze, a pumpkin patch, and on Saturday nights they show a movie when it’s dark enough! They have a couple of bon-fires going and the snack stand has something for everyone… It feels like a great-big cozy outdoor living room. It was the most wonderful place to wander… They are open Wednesday through Sunday until Halloween. Seattle-area people… it is worth the ferry trip. Totally.

A family adventure: the corn maze is a post from: Jenny On the Spot * This is what I do...

I believe this was our 6th annual trip to “Family Camp”. We are blessed to be part of a wonderful group of families who heads to Whidbey Island for a weekend of… well, camping! The kids run wild, as do the parents. The bees are always a bother, the dirt is always on our feet… one can hear birds and laughter and the boys howling their battle cries. It is an event our family looks forward to every year, and will be one of those things that will be a pivotal part of our family memories. Would you like to take a peek into what it’s like?

The first morning we woke up to the aftermath of a raccoon invasion. They were especially fond of the muffins, and hot cocoa packets.

I joined the CSI Club and they sent me a finger printing kit. Look what I found!

After we my husband cleaned up the raccoon disaster-area, my husband took the older two kids to the beach with some of their buddies… A little while later, Lucy asked, “Mama? Will you cake me to uh beach?” *blink, blink* We made the long trek to the beach, hand in hand.

Yay! The beach, and the swarm of children on “Splash Rock”.

Whew! I needed a rest. This is me, sitting on driftwood…. Does this driftwood make my butt look big?

No wait, does this two-table-long spread of late-night dessert make my butt look big???

Ahhh… a few moments at the bunkers.

Speaking Writing of “kickin’ back”, I’m beat! I’m going to bed!

We went camping this weekend. is a post from: Jenny On the Spot * This is what I do...

I took this picture in December. We were driving home from a wonderful Christmas in Colorado with family. On the way back we passed through Snowville, Utah. Of course… I HAD to take a picture of the Snowville sign… as we drove snowly slowly through the snow storm through Snowville… Say that 5 times fast. I dare you.
