The Sister Project

You Know You’re a Sister When… (for the Sister Project)

…she is not around, you feel naked without her.

Silliness

And sometimes when you take a picture when you are both wearing strapless dresses… You LOOK naked whether she’s there or not.

The Question of Time and BlogHer 09 and GlittHer 09

I really, really, really, really want to post about BlogHer and all the wonderful people I met and, and, and… but when one lands smack dab into real-life… I mean, real-life kicked in with a vengeance, so did my hangover. Two days after. Who knew. Maybe the BlogHer hangover should be called The HangovHer… crazy much? I can’t even post that pic, but I am just shameless enough to link to it.

You must be asking, “Why, Jenny, why don’t you have time to write a  much-anticipated obligatory BlogHer 3-Part Post?” Because of nonsense like this:

We have to buckle up stuffed animals now. “We” (the 4 year-old) also have to throw fits because lil’ Bunny Pooh right here doesn’t quite fit in the seat belt and MUST be VERRRRY uncomfortable, but she needs to be buckled…. etc, etc, etc… *sigh* The buckling and fretting over Bunny Pooh’s comfort just. might. kill. me. Who has time for this? And I refuse to buy Lil Miss Bunny Foo-Foo here a booster. Re. Fuse.

So. In the meantime, here is a little spoonful of goodness from BlogHer ‘09. I may start callin it “GlittHer” because, well… Look, here’s my glitter GlittHer posse:

Oh my gosh! Is there a sponsor(s) out there who would like to help me and mah posse pull off a a GlittHer ‘10 partay in NYC next year???!!! *light bulb moment*

I digress…

From left to right… meet the Awesome bloggers of: Liz of This Full House, Diana Of the Princess and the Pea, Shannon of Phat Mommy, and the Dynamic Duo (of whom I will devote one post to just those home-girls!) Chris and Kim of 3 Giraffes! And then me. I might be under-dressed. *scratches head* I am just head-over heels about these ladies. I met 3 Giraffes last year, and we rode the party plane to BlogHer. I met Diana last year too! I just met the Shannon and Liz this year, and have a bit of a crush on them. Just quality women who bring a smile to the face and heart.

But who did I live with? These ladies! (sans Amy, *pout*).

From left to right: Kelly of Mrs. CPA, Me, Sheila of And All The Jones Men, and Jessie of Mrs. Ca. We had another gal too – Amy of Ashley and Audrey. I know I’ll find a pic somewhere! (BTW, that bag hat and bagged bottle of wine are MINE. I just let Mrs. CPA borrow them for the pic. She would not stoop to such levels. FUnny tho, I don’t remember letting go of that bottle. Thot I had a death grip. Oh well, seems I forgot a lot about that evening ;)…

I had NEVER met any of these ladies before. Never. 5 of us lived in BlogHer harmony… in one room. I tell ya folks, it can be risky. I feel the most blessed because I think I had the greatest potential to tick those ladies off. I was always the last to come home, and as much as I hate to admit this, I am pretty high-maintenance. It’s all the hair. It takes forever to dry, and I actually wore make-up. I realized it takes me all too long to actually get ready. I never spend that kind of time at home… I mean, Bunny Pooh could care less if I put on mascara.

Anywho. My BlogHer 09 roomies were truly made out of Awesome. So gracious and patient and hilarious. Thank you ladies for letting me invade your space and I’m sorry if you are having a hard time getting rid of that glitter. It’ll all eventually go away. Eventually. Prolly. I hope. Don’t hate me. Pweese…

I so wish I could go on about all the great people I met right this very moment. *sigh* Since I cannot, I figured I start with the people I spent the most time with. Cute-little cheeky kisses, hugs and spritzes of glitter to all of you!

The Outtakes of a Video on Friendship

My friend Lisa of The Blozulfog and I made a little video about managing online and offline relationships. Stop laughing.

I sent off a 44 second edited version (cut from 8.5 minutes of footage!) to BlogHer. It was supposed to be 30 seconds. I just can’t seem to be not-long-winded! In word or video-clip. I plan to post or link to the 44 second video some day, but for now I will keep that little nugget of friendship goodness in my multi-media pocket for a bit longer… HOWEVER.

However.

I can’t keep this in my pocket! This is the “OUTTAKE” version of that 44 second video. 5 minutes. Some *ahem* “raw footage” if you will… I must apologize for the length. Nearly 5 minutes!

Who am I kidding? You will see that the 5 minutes will breeze by and at the end you will weep and gnash your teeth for all the “more” you will be clamoring for. It’s because of Lisa. She’s yummy like that. That red hair… Her “whoop, whoop” and whatnot. I just look like a frackin’ camera whore hog. It’s my angle though. She’s the good cop, I’m the attention whore bad cop. Which is funny, cuz she’s usually the… uh… um… er… I digress.

Need more video? If you visit The Juice, by Tropicana Trop 50 on BlogHer, you will find a video filled with tips and great info from a wide variety of great women — BlogHers Make Life Work… and if you stick through to the end you might see a familiar face *ahem*. Imagine my surprise when this video came up on the big screen at the conference and I saw a certain familiar face… I think my brain hiccuped and it took me a moment to realize who it was… *light bulb moment* I knew that girl! I’m sthlow like that. But I choose to think it lends to my charm.

Right?

Don’t answer that…

Make Me Laugh Monday – Shadow Fail

G’mornin’ glories! It’s a new week! Did you have a good weekend? I sure hope you did! My Make Me Laugh Monday post is a picture from my weekend. I had the privilege of attenging the BlogHer ‘09 conference in Chicago. *swoon*

Actually, I had MANY things that made me laugh about the conference, but I am still sorting through pictures and memories and business cards and and and… I may still have some wine or cocktails pulsing through my bloodstream. I’m not kidding.

Mrs. Potato Head Needs to Step Off

So, I went to the BlogHer cocktail party last night. So did Mrs. Potato Head:

img_2008

Talk about “LIVIN’ LARGE”… and I hesitate to write what I am about to write, butt… Uh. Mah. Gah. Her butt is soooo BIG!

She was all out on MY the dance floor… Do you see the problem? Lemme spell it out… that “little” spud hogged MY dance floor. I. Know! The nerve. She has no idea. There was one good thing about my spuddly competition… HER butt did NOT make MY butt look big. I was even wearing white pants! (Thanks Darcy for letting me borrow them!)

I think I might have intimidated her with my moves, cuz she left after awhile. Just call me “Alpha-Spud”.

You can also call me “Vanilla”. Because I had the opportunity to rock the mic like a vandal… and got mah hip-hop on. I am pretty sure I lit up the stage and waxed a chump like a candle. Or something. *ahem* I belted out, with such vocal prowess, the highly acclaimed “Ice Ice Baby”. Thank you 3 Giraffes for documenting such an historical moment…

WNBA: The Seattle Storm vs. The Detroit Shock

sstorm

Can I just say, “Fun!”

I want to be up-front… I was given an opportunity to take all five members of my family to the Seattle Storm vs. Detroit Shock WNBA game on July 15th. We were treated to complimentary tickets,  food, and even passes for autographs by a couple of the players - Sue Bird and Ashley Walker!

When the opportunity to go came up I thought, “Well, we’re not necessarily a basketball family, but hey – it’s a night out!”
