My apologies! I am behind on the Monday timeline. It is Make Me Laugh Monday, but I got distracted and fell asleep and then went on a donut date with mah kids and, and, my computer has been SLOW… and this post requires a photo I had to bling-out a little and….
This post was inspired by The Fuglies found at Papa TV… The most unfortunate part of this post, is the picture below is not some picture I snagged off the interwebz from a site like Sexy People. Nope. This is a picture of me… my own bad 10-year-old self.
Folks… found this doozie in my very own vault of “timeless treasures”. It was actually a toss-up between this pic and a picture I drew of a snowman (when I was, like 8) with a thot bubble that read, “I wish I had legs.” I decided on this pic becuase, hey, if one can’t laugh at oneself, then… you are probably either boring or very rich and have a publicist who has been able to erase your past. So, at the very least I am neither boring nor rich. Hmmmm. Nor am I making a very good point. Anyway *shakes head*… Without further ado… a photo I have titled: 4th Grade Fashion Fail: 1982
Hey – at least I had flawless skin and adorable freckles. I still have the freckles, but at my age I think they are called age-spots. I no longer have the flawless skin… HOWEVER… I dress much better, my hair is much prettier, and my glasses are not the size of my head! Go ahead. Laugh at my expense… if it was your picture here… you KNOW I’d be laughing at you :)

You are perfectly adorable! I’m afraid to see what I was wearing back in the day. Methinks your collar and bow are quite dressy and quaint in their “Little Home on the Prairie” way. Don’t be so hard on yourself :-)
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
The greatest thing is that I didn’t eve have to scan that!!!
Were you able to achieve that fine bowl cut curl on its own or was that a curling iron job, too? Either way, you’re adorable!
I had those same glasses!! I had a very similar haircut too:)
But look at us now!
What a cute photo. You were rocking that bowl cut.
As we age, I do think we trade perfect skin for better fashion sense.
Hey!,….What was wrong with the bowl cut? I was an aspiring Dorothy Hammill, I’ll have you know! The cover-the-whole-face glasses only perfected the look……no?
Did you ever make your kids dress like that? If not, you should. Show them what it was like in the ‘Good ol’ Days.’
OMG, I think I wet my pants. I know that I have a picture with a similar haircut and dress somewhere. When I find it, I’ll be sure to pass it on. You made my night!
I think I see the use of a curling iron there to perfect the bowl. I have to say, this reminds me of a favorite card I got for my sis.. Happy Birthday Sis, seems like just yesterday when you were a little boy. Now that was a bad haircut.
You’re cute.
I almost peed my pants. And only because I think I had that same shirt. I LOVE it.
And, my sister rocked a bowl cut for years. Except, everyone thought she was a boy. What was my mom THINKING?
I have a similar photo to this one.. bowl cut and all! Really? a bowl cut was the fashion trend?
We certainly had a few doozies in the 80’s and looking back all we can do is embrace our fashion & style sense. I wonder if back then, we thought we were the shizzle.
I must say, for the record, it’s not that bad!! My 10 year old pic was cute (long, blonde, all one length), then I hit 11 and convinced my Dad to let me cut bangs and sides (over my ears) and get a perm. OMG, what was I thinking?! For the next 4 years, I looked like Frizzed-Out Mullet girl. And then for the next 2 years, I had to wear my sides pulled up and sprayed down with a bottle of Aqua Net daily… yes, daily. So they would stay outta my face. I guess all that hairspray stunted the growth a little since it took that long to grow them out. hahaha, like you, lesson learned!! (and I still have no bangs to this day!!) =)
Jenny and Alter Ego Jenny this is brilliant, I’d like to see waht your dance moves were back then!
Thank God my mom did not give me the Dorothy Hamill haircut…ever. You are a brave one…I may not have hair fails like that but I definitely have enough goofy school pics that I do not want to see the light of day!
