It’s time to give a little screen time to an East Coast fridge! My friend Jen (no blog, but yes… yet another Jen) sent me an email earlier this last month (yes, Fridge friday was on an extended vacation) that read:
Jenny - I was thinking of you the other day when I came home from a trip out of town and my mom said, “I cleaned your fridge.” It was so shiny in there I took pics…
One email led to another and shazam - my newest guest fridge! Jen and I have been friends for… my goodness - years! I think we (my hubs, my son and I) crashed her Christmas party back in ‘01. It was there I tasted my first Hot Buttered Rum. Ka-Pow! I think we crashed it because of Blozulfog. She always takes my to crash parties of her friends… and then they become my friends… Can you hear the birds singing? Sadly, Jen and her hubby moved a few (several… too many!) years ago… and have had 2 babies since!
I’m reminiscing for a moment… I remember my husband and I had a party. 10 couples came… 5 of the 10 women were named some form of Jen, Jenny or Jennifer… and 2 of the couples were “Jen and Dave”. This “Jen” was one of the “Jen & Dave” couples. Remember that Jen???
Another thing about this Jen, that endears me to her - is her appreciation for dancing and 80’s music. I mean… she has a great name, is a friend that dances, loves 80’s AND she even told me about a song called 27 Jennifers! Oh - and she’s a mommy. I love mommies…
Now, here are a few words from Jen, about her fridge:
I don’t know how my mom cleaned the fridge (or why - oh, maybe because it was really dirty?), but it sure was sparkly when it was done! It was just calling for some glamour shots (pictures 1 & 2).
The other reason the fridge might have seemed so shiny on the inside is that there wasn’t much food in it. Notice the lonely yogurt, sour cream and hummus containers, and the spot on the door just asking for some Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Don’t know what is wrapped in foil on the bottom shelf, but I do know that the Margarita Mix bottle is almost empty! That can only mean one thing - time for a trip to Wegmans!
Now, I know Central Market is cool, Jenny, but Wegmans is the BEST grocery store ever! How cool is it? So cool that my sister and her friend were driving 1 HOUR–EACH WAY–to go to a Wegmans in Virginia today. They have plenty of grocery stores 20, 15, even 5 minutes from my sister’s house. But they’re not Wegmans. See all the yummy stuff you can get at Wegmans (pictures 3 & 4)? Like another bottle of Margarita Mix, whipped topping to go with the 2 pints of strawberries for $3, a GIANT papaya for making yummy chicken quesadillas, fresh feta cheese, and a big ol’ pork shoulder for pulled pork sandwiches (my first slow cooker meal!). If you ever want to come visit, we’ll take you to Mecca - the Wegmans flagship store is just down the road!
People, she speaks to me… food and places to GET FOOD! And papaya in a chicken quesadilla? Who thinks she needs to pass THAT recipe on to us? I do! How in love with her are you? SO. MUCH! And Wegmans, I want to smell your aisles someday…
OK, down to business. The first 2 pics were taken after Jen’s mom cleaned it.
“Hey! Jen’s mom! Wanna come visit my fridge house?”
Jen - you guys must be a thirsty bunch. I’m not judging! I am HUGE fan of adequate hydration. Huge. Fan.

Not lacking in condiments, I see… I like this about you.

Now for the “after” shots… A clean fridge stocked with groceries… groceries from Wegmans! I am wondering why the maragarita mix got moved back (compare to picture 1)… Oh, but I do see a NEW bottle in there. Good. I am glad to see your priorities are in order afterall. Hmmm, I see corn and grapes - Ahhh, yes - whipped topping. And there’s that pork shoulder! How were the sandwiches?

Look at that - ya’ll are getting yer “healthy” on with all them veggies. I’m so proud of you!

Hey! It’s a fridge intruder! Those little humans! And look, Jen - it’s a healthy choice! Umm, Should anyone have a V8?

Keep up-to-date on the insane, the insightful, and the whatever…

Of course I remember your “Jen” party - or was it a Willy Wonka party? I’ll get you that quesadilla recipe - the papaya salsa is really yummy! Fridge update - cleanliness down, emptiness up. Guess that means it’s time for a trip to Wegmans and a visit from my mom! Thanks for the shout out, Jenny!
Oh lord, I need to clean my fridge!
Can I come to your next “Jen” party? Thank you for the link to that song. Too funny! Oh and thanks for leaving such encouraging comments about my pms situation. It feels good to know I’m not alone.
From one Jen to another…Beautiful fridge!!
My name’s not Jen and my fridge is not worth of being on a blog. But I just wanted to comment anyway. :-)
Um…. all I’m sayin is “where’s the Aquavit?” That’s right….you know the blue stuff from Julefrokost. What I would give to be sitting in your dining room Jen C. and drinking a margarita with you. Ok.. pretty mush sound like an alkeholic now. Not like I’ve had too much to drink tonight…jsut some bunch of wine with some frineds. Miss you Jen. And you boyfirnd. And your kids….still gotta meet the little one. Draggom myself to bed now.
Aquavit only gets chilled in the snow ;-)
True that blue that!
Ummm… my apologies if I sound ignorant, but what the heck is Aquavit?
I truly must clean my fridge. After I figure out what’s leaking in there. Yikes.
You need to get yourself some Danish friends, get invited to their Julefrokost (traditional Danish Christmas feast), eat fish in a tube, pickled herring, and rice pudding, and drink after each course a shot of Aquavit. It tastes like BURNING, with a licorice, pine-y aftertaste, and makes for some crazy Danish celebrations. SKOL!
