I’m leavin’ today.
In case you missed yesterday’s post… I hinted at the fact that I might have been somewhere unexpected.
Does the title of this post help??? How about this picture?
How about this one then?
You are Smarty Smartersons! It is NYC!!! I made this little game of “Where in the world?” VERY hard! Good thinking! I am so proud of you! ***patting your back***
This was a surprise trip and a quick one… I was able to join the hubs on the tail-end of a business trip. I landed at JFK at 6 a.m. Friday morning and arrived home at 3 a.m… TODAY - just in time to get 3 hours of sleep, hop a ferry, and get my son in school with time to make the bus for his field trip to the bowling alley…
This could get long. I’ll start a new paragraph.
I tied my hair into 2 braids (7 hour airplane hair after a NYC rainstorm while riding bikes in Central Park) and headed to the bowling alley - so as not to miss any 2nd-grade-field-trip-to-the-bowling-alley-Kodak-moments. I then raced home to meet Olivia’s bus, shoved some lunch into her half-day-kindergarten-belly and booked it to the doctor to have her cast removed. Then drove to get a new x-ray. Then drove back to the doc. The doc gave a 2 thumbs up and we raced home to meet Joel’s bus… dropped the older 2 kiddos off with dad, and Lucy and I headed out to buy “Thanks!” gifts for 2 teachers and 2 bus drivers. 3 hours of sleep rocks.
I have lots to share, but I’ll try to do it in bloggy-sized-pieces… Allow me to start with highlights from part of my first day:
What: waiting for food and coffee.
Location: Dean & Deluca across from 30 Rock.
What: Not Kenny Chesney at/on the Today Show.
He WAS there, but not when I was there. My own not-brush with fame…
Location: Dean & Deluca across from 30 Rock
What: Coffee. Mocha. Hallelu. Mercy, it was fab-oh!
Location: Dean & Deluca across from 30 Rock
What: Does this turkey and swiss quiche make my mouth look fat?
Location: Who cares, I was so stinkin’ hungry, I prolly could have eaten my own fingers and that plate.
*******
I have a very important message: This trip to NYC could NOT have happened without the generous and ridiculous-awesome efforts of my in-laws. My sister-in-law (Kerry) and her hubby (PK) kept the kids 3 days and 3 nights. My mother-in-law also joined in on the great fun of taking care of my 3 children. I should be granting them halos, golden rings and sprinkling sweet-sparkling lemonade on their heads. INSTEAD, I humbly thank each of them for giving my husband and me some much needed time away in a filthy, filthy city. :)

Keep up-to-date on the insane, the insightful, and the whatever…

I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!
I’m with NP, so jealous I am pea green.
God Bless those in-laws!!!! I must agree with noble pig that I am indeed a bit jealous myself….although it is a toss up between which I am more jealous of….the trip to NYC itself or just some time away from the kids with hubby. For now I am just livin’ it up through Jenny on the spot!! :)
Yeah…like, I am “in the know” with Jenny’s whereabouts..cuz I start to hyperventilate and have to medicate when she leaves a 100 mile radius y’all. I almost have her talked into getting a chip implanted. Shhh…her nosie is really a tracking device! Mkay… i’m drunk, I mean done.
OK Lizulfisa - you just made me spit the Oreo pieces from my Blizzard all over my keyboard!
The town so nice they named it twice! So glad you had a fun getaway!
