More about my weekend in The Big Apple

The view from our room - if you stand on the balcony and look left… Times Square-ish!

When we were there, we really only ate 2 meals each day…. brunch and dinner. It was such a treat to sleep in and not have to make breakfast or fill sippy cups or anything! Look at those happy, well-rested faces!

I had an omelette and a very satisfying mocha. Prolly one of the best I’ve had the pleasure to drink. I don’t know if it was the coffee, the chocolate or the fact that we got a table right on the street… I felt so “city”.

I love this next picture! This is what “city fruit” looks like!

Those flip-flops… Can’t find ‘em. Loved ‘em. Oh well. We were standing just outside Central Park in this picture.

The following 3 pictures are of Bryant Park. A wee oasis below towering buildings. There was a place to check out books, lil seats for the kiddos, and there were these green chairs (and tables) all over the place. Folks could just go sit and chat and read and… I just took pictures. I know, I tried to play “local”, but all my picture-taking just screamed, “tourist!”.

Paul and I got to see Monty Python’s Spamalot. So. Funny. True comedic inspiration. F to the unny, my friends… I sat wishing I had gone into drama and comedy… It made me fell like I miss my callling… Dramedy Queen.. Anywho. In the picture below, we are post Broadway show… post torrential downpour, lazily finishing up our martinis on a couch at The Paramount Bar before heading back to the apartment to sleep and not set an alarm. So awesome.

We went to Central Park the day we left. We rented 2 bikes and hid under trees as the rain ebbed and flowed. I was wearing white shorts, so I needed to be careful!

Here we are taking refuge under a tree, with our rented bikes…

It looks like you guys had a fantastic time. I a wee bit jealous, but thrilled you and Paul could get away.

    Looks like fun.
Wasn’t Spamalot the best? I got to see it at the Paramount in Seattle with my best friend last October. We are biiiig Monty Python fans so we were in heaven.

things taste so much better when you are outside and there are no kids to worry about!

Ah, good times! I love the pic of the 2 of you with NY as a backdrop. Gorgeous. I’ll be those spots in less than a week! As a matter of fact, this time next week, I’ll be all pouty because there will only be one day of Big Apple adventure left.

I went to see Spamalot when it was in Houston. I so agree, F to the unny. Is Clay Aiken still a cast member?

I was going to ask the same thing as D… did you see Clay Aiken in Spamalot? Navy Son saw him in it when he went to NYC a few months ago and said it was GREAT!

You do look happy and well rested. Love the pics. Sigh . . . last time I was truly “citified” was pre-children when The Calm One and I saw The Phantom. As much fun as we had, I know I’ll never get him to go to a real theatre again. The whole dressing up, eatin’ fancy and taking the subway thing must’ve freaked him out b/c The Phantom was amazing.

The benches in Bryant Park are either named for New York authors or their characters, I don’t remember which. And the stacks for the the New York Public Library are under the park.

I once worked across the street from Bryant Park, now I’m between Central Park and Lincoln Center, fun city.
