Busy Weekend

In case you are wondering, my stomach is still not 100% after yesterday, but I have been able to eat. I even drank a margarita tonight. Take that, Stomach!

Additionally and furthermore, I am much more tired than I thought I would be at this point… Sure, yesterday’s run could be the reason, but lots of other fun things happened this weekend…

Friday - a ferry ride and 1.5 hour drive “up” to Bellingham. My dear friend Sara will be having her baby girl soon. So, of course I HAD to go and help with the baby shower!!! Friday afternoon was filled with shower prep. I was not able to make the cupcakes at home, so I made them at Sara’s house. These are the finished product:

I only made the cupcakes and frosting on Friday. The cupcake recipe I used makes cupcakes that have a kind-of crispy cookie top. That meant I didn’t want to wreck the cupcake-crunchy goodness by having frosting soften it up… So the actual frosting and dotting had to wait until the morning of the shower.

By the way - the recipe called for 2 measly ounces of melted bittersweet chocolate. I added 3 ounces of melted chocolate. I know, you are falling in love with me. It’s OK, I am falling in love with myself. But, wait. There’s more. I also added semi-sweet chocolate chips. True. Yes, biting into one will make you gasp, especially when topped with light and deadly yummy buttercream frosting. Just sayin’.

After a day of driving, baby shower planning, and cupcake baking… We headed to the local scrapbook store for a 2 hour “Travel Album” class - that went for 3 hours. I did no scrap booking. Rather, I painted and sanded and glued - and came home with this:

The suitcase part is actually canvas on a frame… the straps are made from grunge board. Grunge board? Yes, grunge board. I love her. And the rest of the project, well… if you give me a head’s-up, come over for 3 hours and I can teach you how to make this crafty masterpiece.

We made it back to Sara’s by 11, but I still hadn’t completed my Fridge Friday post, so I raided Sara’s office and took over her computer, finally figured out my password, and got Carrie’s fridge pictures up… while it was still technically Friday!

Saturday - I woke up after 6 hours of sleep. My brain jolted me up - I still needed to put names on name tags and drink tags! So I made my way to complete those tasks, and rolled right into cupcake frosting.  Well, I didn’t actually, physically ROLL INTO cupcake frosting (not that I am against such behavior), I started frosting cupcakes right away. Semantics… With little time to spare I took a shower and headed to the host’s home to help set things up…

Tired yet? I was, but a small price to pay for having so much fun!!! After the shower, I made the 3ish hour trek home, and… got my gear together for the race. And THEN I collapsed into bed by 9:30…

I awoke at 6 a.m. Sunday morning. We piled the family into the car with enough time to grab a strong cup of coffee. A tall nonfat latte is my little secret to accomplish a successful “elimination” (if you will) of the need to stop at a port-a-potty at mile 6, or 8 or whatever. Just trying to impart some of my field-tested wisdom. Not that I tested this in a field… nevermind.

Donettes anyone? OK, I didn’t eat any Donettes, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want to. Instead, I ate 7 of them this morning. I know. I just slapped my own hand. Bad Jenny.

As I suspected long ago, you are actually Superwoman. And how cute is Paul?

You can make cupcakes for me anytime, sweetie. I’ll roll in that buttercream frosting with you (that’s probably some dude’s sick sex fantasy, you know?). When we’re done with that we’ll eat Donettes. I like to try to get a whole powdered sugar one in my mouth without laughing and blowing cocaine, er, powdered sugar all over the person watching me.

From the scrap booking, to Nosie, to buttercream frosted cupcakes studded with chocolate, you are gal after my own heart. Can’t say that I’d get into running much though - sorry. Had to run 2 and 1/2 miles in 22 minutes in order to get an A in a college phys ed class once. Missed it by 15 seconds. The good news is that over that semester, with all that running, I lost my freshman 15!
I also have content myself with a toe ring instead of an incredibly adorable and nose stud like yours. The Calm One has issues with jewelry in places other than around fingers, necks and in earlobes. Sigh . . .
