Want to feel like a good mom?

Check this out:

Unbeknownst to me, my son’s shoes were in desperate shape. There were a few times he would off-handedly mention his feet were getting wet at recess. I was all, yeah… cuz he plays in the wet grass. We live in the Pacific Northwest. Wet, wet, wet… Duh.

Apparently, there was a bigger problem… An observant mother might identify the problem as: HOLES IN HIS SHOES. Not hole, but holeS. Biguns. Big and many… Talk. About. Guilt. This guilt is appropriate and called for. Look at these shoes. The child that wore these shoes has a mother. A real mother with brains and a heart… I wonder what his teacher thinks. Wait, I don’t want to know.

Wow! I guess I just wish my boys’ feet would stop growing long enough to wear out a pair of shoes! I’m guessing most people thought he liked the grunge look. “That boy’s mother must have a fit every time he insists on wearing those shoes…Kid’s these days!” :)

See - that’s what I love about you - always giving me something…such a giver you are :)

Aww, don’t beat yourself up. Kids go through shoes so fast when they’re active, it’s hard to keep up. Heck, I had holes in my own shoes and didn’t even know :)

He has had a LOT of fun in those puppies.

Yeah, Little Son’s shoes look like that, too. Oh wait…they’re not supposed to look like that?

Man!!! He wore those puppies out! Well, I’m sure he had tons of fun running and climbing in them. RIP old shoes.

OMG, Jenny, those are bad, but you’re so good to blog about it LOL!

My boy ran around in soaking boots for 4 weeks this winter and I just kept giving him extra pairs of sock in his knapsack. His feet grow so quickly I was too darn cheap to get him a new pair (who knew winter would drag on 4ever!)How’s that for a terrible mom for ya!

Actually, even better, last year when we went shopping for new shoes (he WOULD NOT let me get him out of his Darth Vadars, which were about a size 1), we had his feet measured and he was a SIZE 3!!!!! The girl at Athlete’s World laughed and said she hadn’t seen anything THAT bad before.

Yup, I think I should take mother of the year right from ya!!
