It’s craziness today! Our precious friends are moving, and we are hosting the farewell shin-dig this afternoon. It’s been a wonderful mad-dash to clean, invite, clean, delegate, and clean. I am delighted to be able to have it at our place, but immensely sad such dear friends are leaving. As I was buying balloons (to put out at our mailbox for folks to find our off-the-beaten-path place of residence), the cashier asked why I was buying them. I said that we were having a going away party for some friends. Then. I. Cried. I know I am sad, but I had no idea THAT was hiding so close to the surface!
Today’s extra-dose of goodness: It is GORGEOUS outside! G to the OREGEOUS! It’s February in the Pacific Northwest. Were I a gambler, I woulda bet on clouds and chilly rain. I would have lost my shirt today. There is going to be a truck load of kids… while we are bless to have a house to host large groups - you gotta just skip around when days like today come around. They’ll be off exploring with sticks and light sabers today!
It is my privilege to welcome a new blogger to the community! Marilea of The Empty Nest Mom “opened shop” just a few days ago. I met Marilea at church years ago, but I have come to know her as a friend and as a mentor through serving in MOPS. She has been our lead Mentor Mom since the beginning. When I was our MOPS coordinator last year, she was invaluable to me. She was always available during crisis… leadership-related or otherwise. She home schooled her children, and I home schooled my son last year. She was such an encouragement as we worked in MOPS together and as I navigated the unknown path of homeschooling.
Marilea has 3 grown children and has been a wealth of knowledge and encouragement not only to me, but other young moms. And now, she has started a blog…. ’cause her nest is empty, and she is in a new season of life. I know she will be posting golden nuggets, she’s just awesome that way:)
Will you help warm up her blog? Swing by her little spot on the United World of Interwebbing and welcome her…
I accept this Excellent Blog Award. Thank you Candi at Bittersweet for seeing my potential! Thank you for validating my need for attention and recognition beyond my children’s slobbery kisses. Thank you, for such a lovely compliment… Thank you. I feel excellent, and I’d love to hear it again sometime - from anyone… not in prison… or creepy… I digress. settled into my soul. I saw the flowers from across the store and realized they weren’t Valentine flowers! Just spring… Yay! Another holiday gone. Pressure - poof! Met/unmet expectation - poof! Another something to spend money on - poof! Ah, the goodness of nothing. I love “nothing”.
And then. And then… I rounded the check stand. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! In my celebration of nothing, I forgot the something just ahead. Continue reading ‘A wave of relief’
So. My friend Julie, who will remain linkless ’cause there’s no blog to link to (hint, hint), brought me a-couple-a sleeves of Oreos Friday night. They’re gone. In case you missed my previous post - this last weekend was a regular cookie carnival for me and my bootay. And I haven’t even started in on the details about the dancing and martinis and and roller skating, and a glorious visit from Aunt Flo.
No. This is about Oreos. And about my aforementioned Bootay.
I’m going to Physical Purgatory now. I will be there for The. Next. Three. Eight. Days. Wanna join me, Pumpkin?
I found this note in my son’s Valentine bag from school. This is so cute. It’s not from a girl - thank goodness. I’m not ready for that. I think this buddy wants to “talk shop” - Pokemon.
But not the socks, I’m too hot. I mean, I get too hot. Whether or not “I’m hot” is a personal opinion based on one’s perception on what one considers to be “hot”. So, depending on your own perception of “hot”, I may not be “hot” to you… But I do know this, that when I wear my past-knee-high-stripey-socks, they make me feel hot, but not “hotty” hot, just “sweaty” hot.
I’m not making any progress here, am I?
My point. I am taking my dancing shoes dancing tonight - for the very first time. We are all 3 very excited. One thing is for sure - The Shoes - them girls are smokin’ hot! Not that they smoke…
