Despite my best intentions to change, I just can’t figure out alternative ways to show my love to my family.
Food=Love. Love=Food. Chocolate=Love. Love=Chocolate.
So, after a tasty meal of enchilada casserole and Caesar salad (it was MY Balentime’s Day too, so I decided to make something easy), we indulged in milk shakes and cupcakes… then headed to the basement to play Stuntman Ignition. THAT was a true act of love towards the fam for 2 reasons:
1. I can move all my limbs in harmony on the dance floor, but to coordinate all my digits to navigate a video game. Nuh. Uh. I rock in Pacman because there is 1 thing - a joystick. P.S. I can only rock ‘da hizouse in “Old School” Pacman, ’cause these new-fangled game systems Don’t. Use. Joysticks. They use “thumbsticks”. Hello! Lame! Whatever.
B. The Basement. Chaos resides there. Strong evidence suggests that all my “‘Round To-its” hide in the piles of my good intentions down there… It is so hard to “get a ’round to-it” these days.
Back to Love…
What do you get when you combine Mimosas, brunch complete with chocolate covered strawberries, about 14 fun ladies, and about 70 dozen cookies - a Cookie Partay! I made my “Excellent Soft Cookie” recipe. I didn’t name them that, so I am not being prideful… but they are excellent - especially if you don’t under-cook them… or overcook them. The secret ingredient is sour cream - excellently soft… excellently… However, I actually undercooked 6 dozen of the 7 dozen I made. Maybe that was why I didn’t win the “Tastiest Cookie” award.
There was also an award for “Best Packaging”. Since I have traded my glue-gun skillz for blogging skillz, I didn’t even try to “bring it”. I mean, I “brought it” (10 half-dozen packages), but on these plates rather as opposed to my other option: 6 cookies stuffed in a Ziploc sandwich baggie - blinged out with a Sharpie happy face. The packaging winner (I SO regret I didn’t get a picture of this!) brought these robin’s-egg-cookie-things on an edible nest on edible moss. With. A. Recipe. **insert profanity here** …She was the one wearing the Wonder Woman costume, complete with golden lasso - in my mind.
Jenny’s-Real-World-End-Result: 6 Excellent Soft Sugar Cookies on cute half-priced heart plates (the ladies can use again next year!) - all swirled in shiny cellophane & tied up in raffia… a country-girl’s most favorite accessory. Yes, I am a country girl at heart… but I steer clear of the dusty-blues and lace. I don’t “do” dusty-blue.
I’m done now.

I fail to see the problem.
Ooo! I made my Sugar cookies with sour cream for V-day…They are my FAVORITE cookies! MMMMM!
dusty blue, off-white, antique rose, and lots of baby’s breath in the dried flower arrangements. Are you of the “Gunne Sax” era? Ah, fashion’s prairie revival.
Here’s another thing we have in common: Packy. That little yellow guy got me through grad school.
Yes, chocolate always = love !
Wow,I am very impressed with all of it. Including the cupcakes and milkshakes! Now I feel bad for only giving my kids gits wrapped in Target bags, LOL.
