But I am going to write again about Maddie.
This 3-year-old sweetheart needs prayer now more than ever. She has been put on ECMO (life support) for the THIRD TIME. Go HERE and scroll down to get the latest update. I cannot begin to describe the number of serious complications she is currently facing.
If you want more info on Maddie, hear her parents tell her/their story, and see video - go HERE to watch a special report by one of our local news stations. If you watch, know that Madeline is currently in a much more desperate and dire situation. She needs prayer. Her doctors need prayer… her nurses… her mom and dad.
And I sit here in my comfortable home… sharing my attention with my computer screen and my almost-3-year-old. She is blond, just like Maddie. Sometimes when I look at Lucy, I see Maddie… and I pray. Lucy is 11 months younger than Maddie, but not much smaller. I patiently - even thankfully tend to Lucy’s interruptions. I look at her healthy body and I weep with thankfulness. I read what Cindy and Dave share about Maddie and weep with a heavy heart… confused why their daughter must endure to much…why they must endure so much.
It’s a heart-check for me… when I get so flustered with Lucy. I even feel shameful because I know the struggles Cindy (Maddie’s mom) faces… I deprive Lucy of juice because she should have water instead. Cindy has had to withhold because no food can go to her stomach. It could kill her. I fight with Lucy about buckling her into her carseat. Cindy and Dave must watch their daughter confined to a small hospital crib - for months…. I cannot accurately even describe these obstacles. There have been so many. So. Many. Yet, I whine and complain about the little speed bumps I have to drive over.
I admire Cindy and Dave as they bravely navigate medical decisions and spiritual battles. They have 2 other children… how does a family balance such need? Just watch that video… you can see their strength and sense the heartbreak.
So, again, take a few moments to pray for the Lester family. Visit their site. Their contact info can be found there. Send an encouraging note. They may not be able to reply, but as much goodness that can be given to them… should.

I am glued to their daily postings to see how Maddie is doing and praying for her and her family daily. It does shine a big perspective light on my life for me!
