Goodness…

I have been so blessed lately by the goodness and love of friends. I have made it no secret that this pregnancy has brought a significant amount of pain and discomfort. I think I\’ve been a bit too vocal, thus whiny, but my my friends have taken it and have blessed me with rest and pampering.

For example, my husband! He too has been such a support and help. We both have pretty full plates, but he had been working hard to be my right hand (or back - since mine is shot!) and help keep my mind at ease. He has actively reduced the demands on his time, so he has more time to be a house-wife and mom:) I do not take his efforts for granted:)

Another example - girlfriends. A few recently had a little pre-baby tea party where we giggled, talked about where I need help, and each woman read encouraging words and scriptures to refresh my soul for this new adventure. Another friend came yesterday and gave me a foot massage, and pedicure! Several different friends have come to take one or both kids for the day of half a day while I rest or continue to \”nest\”. Others call or email to say encouraging things, or to remind me they want to help.

I feel blessed and at ease because of the care and concern of others. Becoming pregnant and having two other young children scared me, but the support of my husband and my friends has helped carry me through. I know the road with an infant will be rough, but I have the support of incredible people to help me get through.

*Gush*

Breathe!

Contractions. Irregular. Uncomfortable. Saw my doc today, and she said I\’m dilated to 1.5. I thought I\’d be closer to a 7, given the past few days! Not so much!

It’s not Disney without…

One can’t go to the Magic Kingdom and not get a picture of the castle or ride the teacups!

Disneyworld Celebs…

The kids got to meet lots of Disney characters… Mr. Incredible, Frozone, Mickey, Minnie, Pooh, Lilo, Stitch, Jojo, Goliath, Goofy, Donald, Snow White, Pluto, Cinderella, Tigger, Buzz, Woody, and Jessie… Star struck they were…

We\’re on our way!

\"\" The kids are ready to take on a full day of flight and airports…

\"\" A healthy 2nd dinner… milkshakes and fries - the perks of vacation, travel, and a 3 hour time change!

\”Dream Vacation\”

\"\"width=\"200\" In November, we got to go on a \”dream vacation\”. We went to Disneyworld and went on a cruise. It wasn\’t all we had built it up to be, but it was a spectacular opportunity. Now that we are deep in winter, I find myself wishing for some of that time back…

So Romantic???

Hubby and I agreed not to do anything for each other for Valentine\’s Day. However, my guy wanted to confirm our agreement… The night before Valentine\’s Day, my husband asked, \”Did you do anything for me?\”

\”Yeah, but I ate it.\”

Really. I did. Tired. Pregnant. Craving chocolate. I should never plan ahead while in this condition. I ate his Snickers and Reese\’s hearts - all $1.18 worth. Hey, isn\’t honesty romantic too???

Nail Polish

\"\" For weeks Olivia had been asking to wear nail polish. Being the very feminine and high maintenance woman I am, I didn\’t have any:) I finally remembered to buy some at the grocery store. She insisted we put it on as soon as we got home - yes ma\’am!!!

My normally fidgety and hoppity daughter sat very still as I applied the redish-pink polish to all ten finger and all ten toes. She sat still and all stretched out to allow the polish to dry, very careful not to ruin any of her new painted beauty:) Paul and I had no idea how this one beauty treatment, this one childhood indulgence would change her life… would change ours…

Out of concern and care for her new look, Olivia stopped sucking her thumb! We mentioned sucking her thumb might make the polish come off faster, and she took it to heart. It has been about a month now. She has not sucked - or \”parked\” (keeping her index finger in her nose) since! Of course, she took it a little further and worried that socks and closed toe shoes would damag her toe polish, but it was not much of a battle for long.

I was worried in three years we\’d have a six-year-old night time closet thumb sucker - at the least! Her thumb was almost always in her mouth, with index finger parked. I was able to wean Joel off the pacifier by the time he was two, buttaking away a digit! Had I known her magic formula I would have rushed to buy nail polish months ago! Now… about potty training… I guess there is always a hurdle:)

Olivia the Inductive Reasoner

You are only a few months away from your third birthday, and are as sharp as a tack. You talk or sing almost ALL OF THE TIME. Joel often asks why you talk all the time:) You regularly refer to yourself as a princess and ofetn say things are \”pretty for me\”. You love to accessorize and wear \”prett fings\”. If it is not pretty, you imagine it to be pretty, like a \”pretty\” sword when in combat with your big brother - ob one kenobi. You like to be Princess Lea. Other favorite princesses are \”Feeoonia\” (Fiona) and any Disney princesses, but I think Snow White is your favorite choice lately (though you\’ve never seen the movie). You really want to have a princess tea party for your birthday.

You are beginning to give mom and dad a big mental challenge. You have a way of reasoning… a way to see and try to work around situations you are not happy with. For example… You wanted to eat your rice krispy treat, but it wasn\’t the right time - we were at the mall. Mom and dad said you could have it in the car - when we were done with our errands. You asked and asked and asked. I said you would get a time out and lose your dessert of you asked again. So… you didn\’t ask for your rice krispy, instead… you asked if we could go to the car!

You and Joel were playing with the Legos. He left his \”gun\” on the floor, so you took pieces of his \”gun\” and made a \”cake\”. Later, Joel realized his toy had been taken apart. You bothe began to whine and argue. I told you both that if you leave toys on the floor and are not playing with them, then they are fair game. In the meantime, you left your \”cake\” on the floor, and Joel rebuilt his \”gun\”. This upset you and you wanted the pieces back. So… knowing the \”floor rule\”, instead of whining at him to give you the pieces, you told him to put them on the floor.

Oh, what challenges lie before us. . . :)
