Olivia the Inductive Reasoner

You are only a few months away from your third birthday, and are as sharp as a tack. You talk or sing almost ALL OF THE TIME. Joel often asks why you talk all the time:) You regularly refer to yourself as a princess and ofetn say things are \”pretty for me\”. You love to accessorize and wear \”prett fings\”. If it is not pretty, you imagine it to be pretty, like a \”pretty\” sword when in combat with your big brother - ob one kenobi. You like to be Princess Lea. Other favorite princesses are \”Feeoonia\” (Fiona) and any Disney princesses, but I think Snow White is your favorite choice lately (though you\’ve never seen the movie). You really want to have a princess tea party for your birthday.

You are beginning to give mom and dad a big mental challenge. You have a way of reasoning… a way to see and try to work around situations you are not happy with. For example… You wanted to eat your rice krispy treat, but it wasn\’t the right time - we were at the mall. Mom and dad said you could have it in the car - when we were done with our errands. You asked and asked and asked. I said you would get a time out and lose your dessert of you asked again. So… you didn\’t ask for your rice krispy, instead… you asked if we could go to the car!

You and Joel were playing with the Legos. He left his \”gun\” on the floor, so you took pieces of his \”gun\” and made a \”cake\”. Later, Joel realized his toy had been taken apart. You bothe began to whine and argue. I told you both that if you leave toys on the floor and are not playing with them, then they are fair game. In the meantime, you left your \”cake\” on the floor, and Joel rebuilt his \”gun\”. This upset you and you wanted the pieces back. So… knowing the \”floor rule\”, instead of whining at him to give you the pieces, you told him to put them on the floor.

Oh, what challenges lie before us. . . :)
